A twin flame is a soul connection one has with another person, though it’s rare the two meet in a lifetime. But if they do and one flame goes out, the other may find themselves in limbo; stuck between the desire to re-ignite the flame and the ability to keep glowing in its absence.

This piece was inspired by the sudden death of a close childhood friend. It’s about letting go of the guilt and shame that comes with the ability to continue living a full life when the people you love get stripped of the opportunity to. I created an immersive space for people to sit and grieve alongside me. Though the things we may grieve are different, the emptiness and pain we feel are the same.

I included a sound component to this piece as well. Inside the broken body casts under the clouds, I hid a portable speaker and had the love frequency (528 Hz) echoing throughout the space. Because the friend I lost was also a former intimate partner, I used red lighting mixed with candlelight (with the candles being made from molds of my mouth) to add an aspect of sensuality and create intimacy within the space.
